  • What is a Liposome?

Liposomes, what are they exactly? To understand the benefits of liposomal vitamins, it is important that we know what liposomes are. Simply put, liposomes are tiny nanodevices consisting of a double layer of phospholipids, similar to the structure of our cell membranes. These nanodevices can contain certain substances such as vitamins. Liposomal vitamins have gained attention in recent years for their potential to improve the absorption and effectiveness of vitamins.

    Liposomal vitamins vs. regular vitamins

Traditional forms of vitamins such as tablets and capsules generally have low biological availability. This is due to several reasons. Firstly, these vitamins do not reach the bloodstream directly and must first pass through the gastrointestinal tract before being absorbed. This process can reduce absorption, and it may be that the body cannot use all the active ingredients of the vitamins. Additionally, certain vitamins may be broken down by stomach acid or other enzymes in the stomach and intestines, further reducing their effect.

    What is a liposome

    Liposomal vitamins are better absorbed

Liposomes have higher biological availability*. Liposomal vitamins are designed to avoid the aforementioned disadvantages. By applying a double layer of phospholipids around the vitamins, they are absorbed by the cells without being damaged by stomach acid. Additionally, they are absorbed through the bloodstream without passing through the gastrointestinal tract. This allows the vitamins to reach target cells faster and in higher doses than traditional forms of administration.

*Biological availability or bioavailability indicates the degree to which active ingredients reach or become available to the bloodstream / to the right place in the body.

Furthermore, liposomal vitamins are capable of penetrating cell membranes without being broken down or bounced off. This is because the double layer of phospholipids corresponds to the structure of cell membranes. As a result, liposomes can deliver vitamins directly to the cells that need them.

Vitamin overdose: The danger of regular vitamins

Did you know that an excess of vitamins, herbs or minerals can be dangerous? A vitamin overdose can lead to various health problems and/or unwanted side effects. An important advantage of liposomal vitamins is that they can reduce the toxicity of some vitamins. Some vitamins need to be taken in high doses to enjoy their therapeutic benefits. This increases the risk of a vitamin overdose. High doses of vitamins can become toxic to the body. The administration of liposomal vitamins can avoid these higher doses. This is due to the high biological availability.

    VROVIT chooses quality and efficacy

In summary, we can say that liposomal forms of vitamins offer many advantages over traditional forms of administration. They can increase the biological availability and effectiveness of vitamins, reduce the toxicity of some vitamins, and enable more targeted delivery. Much research is still being conducted on the effectiveness of liposomes, but the future looks promising for this new technology. Through Lipo Science Laboratory, VROVIT stays up-to-date with the latest developments in liposomal vitamins and botanicals.

Thanks to the quality and proven efficacy of the liposomes, VROVIT chooses the liposomal powders from LSL.
